Personality:
First and foremost, Valkenhayn is fiercely loyal to Rachel Alucard, and in turn, the entirely of the Alucard household. It stems from the respect that Valkenhayn holds for Clavis Alucard and how their rivalry as warriors led to him serving the man for the rest of his life as a butler and friend. After Clavis disappeared, Valkenhayn swore to himself to serve and help Rachel as much as possible with all of his power until he was no longer needed. He would do anything to serve Rachel, from making a fool of himself to jumping face-first into danger on a moment's notice. His loyalty to Madam Rachel doesn't stop there. If someone were to badmouth her behind her back in any way or form, even if minor, Valkenhayn would bear his fangs at someone for their insolence. Not a single soul is permitted to speak foul of Madam Rachel, and Valkenhayn isn't afraid to train someone to know this through a thorough beating.

His belief in this is so powerful that someone could badmouth him, and he would stay calm and collected throughout the entirety of it. Once they bring Madam Rachel into the conversation in a negative manner, he loses all form and posture of a noble being and reverts into that of a feral one full of rage. Like mentioned before, no one is permitted to speak foul of her in his presence. He will not have that. Basically, he is a loyal combat butler who refuses to let anyone speak ill of his mistress. This extends to Clavis Alucard, as well.

Even though Valkenhayn puts all of his trust and belief in Madam Rachel's actions and beliefs, there is just one decision she has made that confuses Valkenhayn. And it does so in a way that he simply can not get behind it unless he is scolded by Madam Rachel herself. And that is the decision to believe in, and support, Ragna the Bloodedge. Valkenhayn only sees the boy as a ruffian and someone with a brain the size of a pea. He badmouths Madam Rachel on a daily basis and doesn't respect the power she holds and how much she goes through just to help him, and that angers Valkenhayn to the point that he would rather enjoy knocking him down a notch or two, even though there's no contest and Valkenhayn is vastly more powerful than Ragna. The disrespect he shows for Madam Rachel is too much, and Valkenhayn is almost speechless at how she allows him to speak to her as such. But regardless of how it is between Ragna and Valkenhayn, the butler knows when to place his trust in Ragna. When Madam Rachel is in danger, he places his trust into Ragna, and the two of them agree on something for once. Even to the extent of smiling at each other knowingly, as if they had been comrades the entire time despite butting heads each time they meet.

Valkenhayn has a rather serious demeanor about himself, taking his job as a butler incredibly seriously despite the power he holds as one of the Six Heroes. He is so serious about his own job that he would rather spend all of his time and concentration into simply preparing a tablecloth so perfectly that the tea and scones would look absolutely perfect for Madam Rachel in the afternoon. It can even go so far that he would lose himself during a mission he was sent on, only to ponder the different types of tea he could brew while wandering through a shopping district. Valkenhayn is, of course, quick to catch himself in the act of zoning out, but the value of acknowledging his job as a butler even in the most serious of situations still exists.

He isn't very sarcastic, and instead mostly speaks his mind around people when he does converse. He tends to smile when speaking to pleasant people or when he is enjoying himself, such as when he serves Madam Rachel. The quickest way for him to lose his temper, which is rare, is to badmouth Madam Rachel (AKA anything with Ragna) or to bring up Terumi in front of him. Relius Clover is also another sour subject to bring up around Valkenhayn that may lead to him losing composure, as rare as it is. When he does get angry, he loses some of his humanity and shows some of his Beastkin side, bearing fangs at those he speaks to and growling. Other than that, he has a regal air about him and seems to be a complete gentleman.

He doesn't take well to those who betray him or attack him, and normally only resolves to fight when someone does such a thing like that. Teurmi is a good example of Valkenhayn's rage towards betrayal and those who dare to show their faces to him after wronging him and his comrades. Comrades are something he values very much, vowing himself to protecting them with all he has and never wronging them. Almost like a dog. Valkenhayn is also one who doesn't hold back unless it is for sport, in which case he can be quite the gentleman in battle and knows the value of a good spar. Despite being a refined butler, he still has the heart of a warrior burning within him that knows a good exchange can mean many things. And Valkenhayn is proud of this fact.

tl;dr Terumi is an asshole and Valkenhayn would pride himself on the fact that he wants to rip his throat from his body. And Madam Rachel is the best mistress a butler can have.

Abilities:
As a Beastkin, Valkenhayn is an incredibly durable and strong being. He is capable of launching people with kicks and even able to make Terumi reel in pain with a simple kick to the face. Which is actually an accomplishment, given who it was. He is powerful enough to keep up with even the strongest of the characters within the universe, and his speed matches with his power. To further things even more, in the prime of his youth during the Dark War, Valkenhayn was capable of fighting on par with the other Six Heroes despite doing it unarmed and without the assistance of the magical weapons developed specifically to combat the Black Beast. He has since then deteriorated in power, but not enough to be considered an annoyance of an old man.

Besides his capabilities in human form, his speed and power increase dramatically due to his ability to morph any part of his body into that of his beast form, making him hit harder, faster, and more efficiently. When he transforms into a beast fully, he is incapable of defending himself quite as well, but his offensive capability is increased tenfold. Like a savage beast, he can rip and shred through his opponents in the blink of an eye, and even send them flying into the air and pursue as if he could actually soar through the air like a bird. The combination of all of this, including his training in hand to hand combat, make him a worthy foe in combat as he's able to contend with people using magical weapons with just his fists.

He also has a rather good idea and comprehension of how the magic in his world works, from both Ars Armagus and actual witchcraft. It's to the point that he even knows the number of people in the world capable of teleportation magic.

Payment to Yubaba
Memory:
• Clavis Alucard (Claudius Alucard in the English localization)
→ Valkenhayn's former master and former Head of the Alucard family, as well as Rachel Alucard's father. This includes the rivalry the two had, the friendship they shared over the years, and his disappearance affecting Rachel.
• How to make tea
→ An important piece of knowledge to Valkenhayn, given his occupation of butler for the Alucard household and Rachel Alucard's fondness for tea at any given time. He prides himself in his ability to make a variety of different teas.
• The Six Heroes
→ Not the people themselves or his relationships with them, but rather his contribution to the group in helping defeat the Black Beast and how he participated throughout the Dark War.
• The creation of the Nox Nyctores
→ Valkenhayn had knowledge behind the creation of the Nox Nyctores as he was around when Nine proceeded in creating the weapons. With forgetting this fact, he also forgets the conversation he had with Terumi that explained how the Black Beast was created. He would still remember what they are, but not what they are made of and how.
• The history of the Beastkin
→ His race, the Beastkin, are an artificially created brand of human/animal hybrids that live to be well over a century and are suited for combat. Valkenhayn will remember what he is by name, but not what they are and how they came to be.
• Nago and Gii
→ The two familiars (cat and bat, respectively) that follow Rachel Alucard around where ever she goes, and are also her primary tools for combat. They also double as her personal punching bags.
• Konoe A. Mercury (Nine)
→ The legendary witch Nine who created the Nox Nyctores and led to the defeat of the Black Beast. By forgetting her, he would also forget who created the Nox Nyctores and Ars Armagus along with her familial ties to Valkenhayn's comrades.
• Terumi's Betrayal
→ After the end of the Dark War, Terumi betrayed the Six Heroes and killed Nine in an act of betrayal. This led to the realization of his agenda along with a burning hatred against the man.
• Castle Alucard
→ The castle in which the Alucard family have been residing in for centuries, and it resides outside of the jurisdiction of the normal world. Valkenhayn has been serving as its butler for nearly a century.

New Name: Haven

Samples
First Person:
This won't do. This won't do at all, and I'm more than sure he has something to do with this nonsense.

[Haven decides to begin the official instance of a network post by clearing his throat, demanding any form of attention.] Ah, excuse me. It seems that I've come across a bit of a snag and wandered into an unfamiliar environment. [He pauses for a moment, considering what his statement could truly mean.]

I would humbly request any form of assistance in this regard. If it would be favorable to those of you hearing this, I would be delighted to repay you for any information convened to me. I am privy to the term "an eye for an eye", as it would be.

And I know there are those of you who would be more inclined to assist me in these matters with that offer on the table. [He's dealt with the ruffian kind before, and he's more than inclined to believe that those kind of people exist in this strange place as well.] Thank you.

[The last part is muttered.] ... I dearly hope the Madam is taking care of herself.

Third Person:
After doing all he could possibly do in assisting the Madam with her world in Kagutsuchi, it should definitely be a surprise to be spirited away to another world to work for another. However, there was no expression of surprise on Haven's face. Instead, his expression was wrought with a bit of distaste and anger. His name was changed, and he did not approve such a course of action. Names were a subjective thing that weren't necessary, of course. But it was something that assumed his identity, and he more than had the right to be upset at that. But that wasn't his concern as he walked down the halls of the bathhouse, contemplating to himself quietly.

What truly got under his skin was that he betrayed his mistress.

Serving another is the ultimate act of betrayal for a servant, and more than what Haven had in mind for himself as the years passed by. Even if it seemed that he couldn't quite recall why he felt so attached to his mistress, it was still a century's worth of time and dedication towards her and the household. Was he finally going senile? Perhaps. He couldn't do any more the asisst back in Kagutsuchi, and now he was helpless against a greater force that was making his a servant elsewhere. Haven was helpless and forced to serve another, and it was inwardly tearing him apart. Guilt wracked through his brain, forcing him to stop his stroll.

"I must find a possibility of returning to serve her." He began, talking to no one in particular as he stared at his feet. There must be a way around this. If he was forced to come here so casually, then there must truly be a way to be sent back to his own home. He lets an uncharacteristic slip of his fangs be shown, before calming himself and resuming his stroll. "No, I will search and find it. I can not let her continue on without my assistance."

Until then, he would have to put his skills to use in this foreign place.
